It’s official! The next Young Carers Awareness Day will be held on Thursday, 25 January 2018.
Carers Trust estimate there are more than 700,000 young carers across the UK caring for their sick or disabled family members. They are children from as young as five to 16, who are helping with shopping, cooking, handling bills and helping with medication. They are doing this while juggling their schoolwork and often they don’t have the time to work towards achieving their life goals and ambitions.
This is a day to regonise the amazing work they do for their loved one but also to identify those hidden Young Carers. Both projects in Barking & Dagenham and Thurrock will be out visiting locals schools and in the local community raising awareness. The subgroup members pledge for people to 'WEAR SOMETHING YELLOW FOR THE DAY'
