Please note we shall be taking photos at any of our events and your image may be used in the following way -

On our website - Oneour Facebook, Twitter feed or Instagram - In our Newsletter - At an event or presentation - To demonstrate to our funders a successful event - as part of a bid for further funding. 

Should you not wish for your image to be used for any of the above please discuss with a member of staff who will ensure your privacy is respected.

New Coaching For Carers

Social enterprise Coaching for Unpaid Carers CIC is now running a coaching service for unpaid carers in Barking and Dagenham. They are offering both coaching workshops on topics to support carer’s wellbeing, and 1-2-1 coaching with qualified specialist carer coaches.Coaching provides space and support for carers to work on their own goals, such as improving their physical or mental health, combating social isolation, juggling work and caring or building assertiveness or communication skills. 
 
Coaching for Unpaid carers are running some lunch and learn sessions where you can find out more about the project, about coaching, and how to refer carers. You book into one of those sessions here:

Basic Counselling Skills

An interactive course aimed at acquiring an understanding and awareness of the benefits of using basic counselling skills to improve communication.

Duration: 1/2 a day

Carers Awareness Training

Aimed at GPs, care staff, social workers and other professionals this course considers the impact of caring on family members.

Too often Family Carers get overlooked and are not involved in the care plan of the person they care for. This can result in Carers reaching crisis point, or a care package beaking down with the Carer unable to continue providing care.

This course will enable professionals to address family care needs when delivering a service to the cared for, offering holistic support.

Duration: 1/2 a day

Conciliation Skills

Aimed at Parent Carers, this course builds skills and confidence in discussing educational issues with professionals - helping achieve better outcomes for your child. The course will develop:

  • communication skills
  • listening skills
  • interaction with professionals
  • confidence in influencing outcomes
  • knowledge around exclusion issues

It also looks at specific contexts, including:

  • Pastoral support planning meetings
  • Exclusion meetings
  • Re-integration meetings
  • Review meetings

Duration: 1/2 a day

Dementia Awareness

This course explores the different types of dementia and how it affects the person. Carers learn how to better cope with difficult situations and how to care for a person with dementia who has lost cognitive communications skills. Carers also explore end of life care and support networks available to them.

Duration: 1/2 a day

Preparing For The Future

 

This course explores:

  • living wills
  • lasting power of attorney
  • advanced directives
  • wishes of the person and their family
  • caring at end of life
  • support networks for families

Duration: 1/2 a Day

Courses run regularly through the year. There are limited places for each course, so early booking is advised due to high demand.

Duration: 4 days (2 days a week over 2 consecutive weeks 9.30-2.30pm).
